It’s team Red again. Today, we have the recently released AMD Ryzen 5 4500U versus last year’s AMD Ryzen 7 3750H. We are going to compare how these CPUs perform against one another and decide which is the better option for your system.
In terms of specifications, the biggest difference between the two processors is the number of cores and threads. The older Ryzen has 4 cores and 8 threads which should in theory make it more suitable for multi-core tasks, while the new boy features 6 cores and 6 threads, meaning no multithreading.
|AMD Ryzen 5 4500U||AMD Ryzen 7 3750H|
|Cores / Threads||6 / 6||4 / 8|
|Base / Max frequency||2.30 – 4.00 GHz||2.30 – 4.00 GHz|
|Cache||8 MB Cache||4 MB Cache|
|TDP / up / down||15W / 25W / 10W||35W / 40W / 30W|
|Memory support||DDR4-3200MHz, LPDDR4-4266MHz||
|Integrated graphics||AMD Radeon RX Vega 6 (Ryzen 4000)||AMD Radeon RX Vega 10|
In both benchmarks, the newer sibling in the Ryzen family does better than the older one. In our first 3D rendering benchmark the newer one is 20% faster than the Ryzen 7 3750H and in general, it does better.
Results are from the Cinebench 15 CPU test (the higher the score, the better)
Results are from the Fritz chess benchmark (the higher the score, the better)
As far as the GPU Benchmarks go, the Ryzen 5 4500U does better by being 34% faster.
